Bencubbin, WA

Along the Bencubbin-Mukinbudin Road, the Pergandes Sheepyards stand as a testament to early 20th-century ingenuity. Constructed in the 1920s, these sheepyards and the adjacent homestead are built almost entirely from local granite. The sheepyards feature large granite slabs, transported by horse sled from nearby Wiacubbing Hill, set upright to form the fences. The homestead is made from smaller round rocks held together by mortar. Visitors can view the site from the roadside, as it is situated on private property. Nearby, Marshall Rock offers panoramic views of the Wheatbelt region.
