Housed in the historic Hog Bay Public School building, established in 1869, the Penneshaw Maritime and Folk Museum offers a captivating journey through the region's rich maritime and cultural heritage. The museum features three distinct rooms: the School Room, showcasing educational artifacts from a bygone era; the Maritime Room, displaying models and artifacts from the sealing, whaling, and commercial shipping industries; and the McKenzie Room, highlighting the pioneering spirit of early settlers. Outside, visitors can view a lifeboat from the S.S. Karatta and a grinding mill used in early industry. Established in 1968 by local enthusiasts, the museum continues to be a cherished community resource.
