Overlooking Bass Strait, Penguin General Cemetery is a heritage-listed site established in the 1860s and closed in 1977. Located along Main Street, a kilometre west of the Post Office, it is the final resting place for over 1,800 individuals, including Bounty immigrants from the 1850s, returned soldiers from the Boer War, and notable local figures. The cemetery is renowned for its historical significance and scenic views, offering visitors a glimpse into Penguin's rich past. A self-guided audio tour app, launched in 2022, provides deeper insights into the stories of those interred.
