Accessible only by watercraft, it features Horseshoe Bay, a popular spot for boating, fishing, and swimming. The surrounding waters are home to dugongs, turtles, dolphins, and sharks. The island has a rich history, having served as a quarantine station, asylum, sisal farm, and leper colony. Today, it is part of Teerk Roo Ra National Park, with Horseshoe and Platypus bays open to the public, while access to most of the island is restricted to preserve its historic remains.
