
The Palm Island Community Company Ltd (PICC) is a community-controlled, not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the safety, strength, and prosperity of Palm Island, Queensland. Established in 2007, PICC delivers a comprehensive range of human services, community capacity-building initiatives, and economic development programs tailored to the unique needs of the Palm Island community. These services encompass family well-being, early childhood education, healing programs, disability support, child protection, domestic violence assistance, men's groups, youth activities, and high-quality, culturally safe aged care services for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents. PICC also operates social enterprises, including a mechanics workshop, fuel supply, and a community shop, contributing to local employment and economic growth. In 2021, PICC transitioned to full community control, empowering local residents to lead and manage services, ensuring they are responsive and relevant to the community's needs.
