The One Ton Post, erected in 1881 by surveyor John Brewer Cameron, marks the completion of the arduous task of surveying the straight section of the Queensland/New South Wales border from Cameron Corner to the Barwon River. This monumental wooden post, believed to be the largest survey peg in Australia, stands on the west bank of the Barwon River near Mungindi. Visitors can access the site via a dirt track off the Mungindi-Collarenebri Road, leading to a small parking and picnic area. The area features a Fencer’s Hut and a roofed structure protecting the post from weathering, offering a glimpse into Australia's surveying history.
