Situated on Babbage Island near the mouth of the Gascoyne River, the One Mile Jetty Museum is a cornerstone of Carnarvon's rich coastal, pastoral, horticultural, and maritime heritage. Managed by the Carnarvon Heritage Group, this museum features artifacts, including the preserved lifeboat from the German raider HSK Kormoran, and interactive exhibits that narrate the tragic 1941 naval battle between HMAS Sydney II and HSK Kormoran. Visitors can also explore the Babbage Island Rail Museum, showcasing heritage locomotives and the historic tramway that once connected Carnarvon to the world. The Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage offers a glimpse into early 20th-century coastal life, while scenic walkways provide views of the mangroves and Gascoyne River mouth. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00am – 4:00pm, the museum is located at Annear Place, Carnarvon WA 6701.
