Venue

Belair, SA

Nestled within Belair National Park, Old Government House is a beautifully restored Victorian-era residence that once served as the summer retreat for South Australia's early governors. Constructed in 1860, the house showcases elegant architecture, including a distinctive bay window with a turret and flagpole, and features the colony's first indoor plunge pool. Surrounding the house is a meticulously maintained garden, redesigned in the mid-Victorian Anglo-Italianate style, complete with heritage roses and mature trees. Managed by the dedicated Friends of Old Government House, the venue offers guided tours and afternoon teas, providing visitors with a glimpse into the state's rich history. Open on the first and third Sundays of each month, as well as select public holidays, it is located 11 kilometers south of Adelaide.
