
Oberon Dam, located approximately 3 kilometers south of Oberon in New South Wales, is a picturesque alpine lake renowned for its excellent trout fishing opportunities. The dam features a 232-meter-long, 33.5-meter-high concrete wall, offering panoramic views of the lake and surrounding countryside. Visitors can enjoy picnic areas equipped with shelters, electric barbecues, and toilets, situated near the dam wall and at The Reef Reserve off Abercrombie Road. Canoes, kayaks, and small unpowered boats are permitted on the lake, with a public launching site provided off The Reef Reserve. Fishing enthusiasts can expect to catch brown and rainbow trout, with fly fishing being particularly popular. Please note that swimming, camping, and the lighting of fires are prohibited to maintain the area's pristine condition. The dam is accessible via Jenolan Street, Oberon, NSW 2787.
