Oak Valley is a remote Aboriginal community located at the southern edge of the Great Victoria Desert in South Australia. Established in 1984, it serves as the sole community of the Maralinga Tjarutja Aboriginal Council. The area is named after the desert oaks that populate the vicinity. The community is approximately 128 kilometers north-northwest of the original Maralinga township. In 2003, a new school was opened in Oak Valley, replacing the previous facility. In May 2004, Premier Mike Rann returned 21,000 square kilometers of land to the Maralinga Tjarutja and Pila Nguru people, now known as Mamungari Conservation Park.
