Nyngan, NSW

Housed in the 1883 Railway Station building, the Nyngan Museum showcases the rich history of the region. Exhibits include Aboriginal heritage, European settlement, mining developments, and the evolution of the railway and township. A highlight is the hand-painted 1919 honour roll commemorating World War participants. Visitors can view a video of the 1990 flood in the Palais Theatrette, featuring seats and façade tiles from the demolished Palais Theatre. The museum also displays items from local service clubs, communication history, homewares, hospital and Red Cross artifacts, educational materials, and dolls. Ongoing developments aim to house the Palais Theatre projectors, items from Canonbar Station's Prince of Wales wing, a blacksmith/wheelwright workshop, a buggy and sulky, and the history of laundry processes. The original railway shed will feature two railway trikes and other items used by fettlers during the early years of the railway. A volunteer historian offers information on family histories from available resources. The museum provides tours, educational programs, and treasure hunts for children.
