
Northern Ground, located at 144 Main Street in Bairnsdale, VIC, was a modern café and bistro that celebrated local Gippsland produce. Under the guidance of English chef Rob Turner, the venue offered a menu blending traditional English dishes with contemporary European influences. The stylish interior featured cool green walls, blond wood floors, and striking artwork, creating a relaxed dining atmosphere. Signature dishes included Portarlington mussels cooked with Luckes Smokehouse bacon, Sailors Grave ale, Snowy River beach herbs, and a bacon-butter broth. The establishment also offered a selection of local beers and wines, enhancing the dining experience. Northern Ground ceased operations on May 17, 2025, after seven years of service.
