Newland Head Conservation Park, situated on the southern coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula, offers a haven for nature enthusiasts. The park features two long beaches, Waitpinga and Parsons, renowned for surfing and fishing, though swimming is discouraged due to strong rips and hidden gutters. Visitors can explore walking trails that wind through rolling sand dunes and rugged cliffs, providing panoramic views of Waitpinga Creek, Encounter Marine Park, the Pages in Backstairs Passage, and Kangaroo Island. Camping options include the Waitpinga Campground and the hiker-only Natunyuuru Ngawanthi (Sand Dunes) Campground, both offering a serene coastal experience. The park's mallee heath vegetation supports over 500 native plant species, including endangered ones like the Silver Daisy Bush and Butterfly Spyridium, and is home to diverse wildlife, including the endangered Southern Brown Bandicoot and Western Pygmy Possum. Due to strong rips and hidden gutters, the park’s beaches are not suitable for swimming.
