
Nandowrie is a rural locality in Queensland's Central Highlands Region, covering approximately 697.3 square kilometers. As of the 2021 census, it has a population of 31 residents. The area is characterized by a mix of flat grazing lands and mountainous regions, with elevations ranging from 300 to 400 meters above sea level. The Nogoa River forms the northern boundary, and the Dawson Developmental Road traverses the locality from northeast to southwest. The region is predominantly used for cattle grazing, with parts designated as Squire State Forest and Nandowrie State Forest. The name "Nandowrie" is believed to originate from the Nandowrie Lagoon along the road from Springsure to Tambo. Tresswell State School, located at 5469 Dawson Developmental Road, is a one-teacher primary school serving the local community. The nearest towns are Springsure to the east and Emerald to the southwest.
