Normanton, QLD

Mutton Hole Wetlands Conservation Park, spanning 7,860 hectares between Karumba and Normanton, is part of the largest continuous estuarine wetland in northern Queensland. From November to April, monsoonal rains rejuvenate the area, attracting a diverse array of birdlife, including whistling-ducks, sarus cranes, brolgas, pelicans, and jabirus. The park also serves as a breeding ground for crocodiles. Visitors can explore walking tracks through the seasonal wetlands, offering opportunities to observe the Normanton Waterlily and Magpie Geese during the summer months.
