Located in the historic Ewan mining field, approximately 150 kilometers northwest of Townsville, Mt. Moss Mine is renowned for its substantial skarn magnetite deposit, one of the largest on Australia's east coast. The area has a rich mining heritage, with tin and copper extraction dating back to the 1890s. In 2005, Curtain Brothers acquired the mining lease and established Mt. Moss Mining Pty Ltd, initiating open-pit mining at the Willett's Knob ore body in 2007. The mine produces various magnetite products, including fines suitable for sinter feed, lump magnetite for steelmaking, and magnetite powder used in coal washing. The processing plant operates two independent beneficiation circuits, enhancing its production capacity. Employing over 75 personnel, the mine contributes significantly to the local economy and the Bowen Basin coal industry's magnetite supply.
