The Mt Wilson/Mt Irvine Rural Fire Brigade, established in 1958, serves the communities of Mount Wilson and Mount Irvine in the Blue Mountains. Comprising approximately 70 active firefighters and 55 support volunteers, the brigade operates from two stations: Mt Wilson at 47 The Avenue and Mt Irvine on Mt Irvine Road. Equipped with a Cat 11 Pumper, Cat 1, Cat 7, Cat 9, and two PC Support Vehicles, the brigade responds to bushfires, search and rescues, medical emergencies, and storm damage. Notably, in 2014, they received a Resilient Australia Award for exceptional community engagement during the October 2013 bushfires.
