Mount Schank, a dormant volcanic cinder cone, rises approximately 100 meters above the coastal plain, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. A 900-meter signposted trail leads visitors to the summit, where a 2-kilometer walk around the crater's rim provides sensational vistas of Mount Gambier and the surrounding areas. The area encompasses approximately 150 hectares, including the land around the volcano and an extension of the original volcanic fissure to the north. Designated as a South Australian Geological Monument, Mount Schank is a rare example of recent volcanic activity in the region.
