Venue

Taralga, NSW

Nestled in the picturesque Southern Tablelands, Mount Rae Railway Station was part of the Taralga Branch line, which commenced operations in 1926. This line was constructed to provide all-weather access to the expanding town of Taralga. Despite its initial promise, the line faced operational challenges, leading to a decline in passenger and freight demand. By 1930, services were reduced to twice a week, and the regular service concluded in 1954. The tracks were eventually removed, and the area has since been reclaimed by nature, with eucalypts now covering the former embankments.
