Mount Moriac is a rural locality in Victoria's Surf Coast Shire, approximately 14 km southwest of Geelong. The area is renowned for its 270-meter-high extinct volcano, believed to be the source of its name, derived from the local Aboriginal word for hill. Established in the 1840s, Mount Moriac developed into a farming community with a hotel, Catholic school, and church by the mid-19th century. Today, it features the Mount Moriac Hotel, St Patrick's Catholic Church, and the Mount Moriac Reserve, which offers sporting facilities and hosts a memorial to artist Arthur Streeton, who was born in the area.
