
Mount Hypipamee Crater, located in the Hugh Nelson Range of Queensland's Atherton Tablelands, is a remarkable volcanic pipe formed by a massive gas explosion approximately 10,000 to 15,000 years ago. The crater spans nearly 70 meters in diameter and plunges 58 meters deep, with a lake at its base. A 400-meter sealed walking track through lush rainforest leads to a viewing platform offering uninterrupted views of this geological wonder. The surrounding park is home to diverse wildlife, including various possum species and the Lumholtz's tree-kangaroo. Visitors can also explore the Dinner Falls circuit, a 1.2-kilometer return track that showcases a series of cascades along the Barron River. Picnic facilities are available, but camping is not permitted within the park.
