Mount Cole State Forest

Mount Cole State Forest, located near Ararat in western Victoria, offers a serene retreat with its cool fern gullies, alpine plateaus, and diverse wildlife. The forest spans 12,150 hectares and features six free camping areas: Ditchfields, Chinamans, Mugwamp, Richards, Smith's Bridge, and Beeripmo. Each site provides picnic facilities, shelters, and fire pits, accommodating both small and large groups. Visitors can enjoy activities such as bushwalking, horse riding, four-wheel driving, and bird watching. The Beeripmo Walk, a 21 km trail, showcases the forest's lush environments and panoramic vistas.
