Housed in the historic Emmott House at 85 Campbell Street, Moruya Museum showcases a diverse collection of furniture, books, artifacts, and memorabilia that reflect the lives of local residents from the mid-1800s. Many items were generously donated by local families, creating an eclectic mix of considerable charm and interest. The museum's exhibits include the 1881 Abernethy Stonemason's Lathe, which crafted columns for prominent Sydney buildings like the General Post Office and the Queen Victoria Building. Visitors can also explore thematic displays highlighting the region's agricultural heritage and granite quarrying history. The Emmott House itself, built in 1875 by Abraham Emmott, a migrant from Yorkshire, features distinctive North of England design elements adapted to the Australian climate. The museum is open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 12 noon, and on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am to 12 noon. Admission is $5 for individuals and $15 for families. The attached Genealogy Research Room offers resources for family history research and is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 am to 2 pm. For group tours or special arrangements, contact the museum at (02) 4474 3224 or via email at moruyamuseum@gmail.com.
