
Housed in the former Moonta Mines Model School, built in 1878, the Moonta Mines Museum offers a captivating glimpse into the lives of Cornish miners who arrived between 1861 and 1923. The museum features 14 rooms with thematic displays on mining, lodges, friendly societies, sports, pastimes, and hardships. Visitors can explore extensive collections of costumes, china, silverware, photographs, and memorabilia, as well as a classroom furnished in the 1900s style. Open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, the museum is closed on Good Friday, Christmas Day, and the morning of Anzac Day.
