Mongolata is a rural locality in South Australia's Mid North region, established in August 2000. Historically, it was a farming area where early settlers cultivated potatoes and barley, often facing challenges due to insufficient rainfall. In 1930, gold was discovered, leading to a brief mining boom that lasted until 1954. Today, Mongolata is known for its historical goldfield ruins, including remnants of cyanide works, an eating house, dugouts, and the former Byles' Mine, all listed on the South Australian Heritage Register.
