Nestled under the shade of eucalypt forest in Monga National Park, the Mongarlowe River picnic area offers a tranquil setting for relaxation and exploration. Visitors can enjoy lunch at picnic tables before taking an easy stroll along the Waratah walking track to the gently flowing Mongarlowe River. The area is ideal for birdwatching, especially during October and November when the distinctive bright red Monga and Gippsland waratahs bloom, attracting a variety of birds and insects. Please note that drinking water is not available, so it's advisable to bring your own.
