Gold was first discovered here in 1891, leading to the establishment of the Monal Goldfield. Mining activities ceased in 1912 but resumed on a small scale in the 1930s. During its peak, the area featured several hotels, butchers, and general stores, reflecting its once-thriving community. Today, the ruins serve as a historical site, offering visitors a glimpse into the area's rich mining heritage.
