Middle Beach is a tranquil coastal township approximately 40 km north of Adelaide, nestled along the shores of Gulf St Vincent. The 1.2 km long beach is almost encased in mangroves, with the southern section at the mouth of the small Salt Creek free of mangroves and used for boat launching at high tide. A row of fishing shacks lines the low shelly beach, most facing into the mangroves, with a camping area at the northern end of the shacks. The area is renowned for its crabbing, fishing, boating, kayaking, walking, and other recreational activities. The mangroves are home to a wide variety of animals, including dozens of local and migratory birds. A boat ramp and small creek are located at the southern end of the shellgrit beach. The beach is protected behind a mangrove forest, with the southern portion transformed into a lagoon during periods of high tide. Middle Beach offers a peaceful retreat for those seeking a quiet beachside experience.
