Located at 111 Wakefield Street in Wellington's Te Aro district, the Michael Fowler Centre is a premier concert hall and convention centre. Officially opened on 16 September 1983, it was designed by architects Miles Warren and Maurice Mahoney, with acoustic assistance from Professor A. Harold Marshall. The centre features a three-level glass facade and is finished with native timbers and Italian marble, earning numerous architecture awards. It serves as the home of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and hosts a variety of international and local performances. Situated within the Te Ngākau Civic Square, the venue is surrounded by cultural landmarks, including the Wellington Town Hall, Central Library, and City Gallery, making it a central hub for arts and culture in the city.
