Marian Mill, established in 1885 and rebuilt in 1894, is the largest of Mackay Sugar's three factories, situated approximately 30 minutes from Mackay's CBD in the town of Marian. It processes over two million tonnes of sugar cane annually, producing around 280,000 tonnes of raw sugar, 70,000 tonnes of molasses, and exporting 6,900 MWh of electricity. The mill features two milling trains and is renowned for its high raw sugar production volume. A notable feature is the mural on the engineering shed depicting a cane fire, a rare sight today as most cane is cut green.
