Established in August 2010, Mares Forest National Park spans 2,559 hectares in New South Wales' Southern Tablelands. The park's diverse ecosystems support a variety of native wildlife, including numerous bird species, lizards, kangaroos, wallabies, and wombats. Visitors can explore the Mares Forest Creek walking track, a 1.6-kilometer trail leading to Tinted Cave, the only cave in Wombeyan open for self-guided exploration. The park is managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, with the Oberon office serving as the primary contact point.
