Nestled at the corner of Wharf and Grafton Streets in Maclean, the Maclean District Museum offers a captivating journey through the region's rich history. The museum's design facilitates easy exploration of its diverse exhibits, including replicas of an early schoolroom and hospital ward, along with regularly changing displays. Adjacent to the museum, the Stone Cottage, constructed in 1889 by Johann George Schaefer using sandstone quarried from the site, serves as a "living history" replica of a typical turn-of-the-century home, complete with working models. The museum is open on Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Entry fees are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for aged pensioners, senior card holders, and school children.
