Mabel Creek is a functioning grazing property located in the remote outback of South Australia. The station is owned by the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara people and is currently under sub-lease to Saltbush Ag. Historically, Mabel Creek Station has supported large sheep and cattle herds, with numbers reaching up to 25,000 sheep and a permanently agisted cattle herd through the mid-2010s. The property was destocked prior to its acquisition by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC) in 1994 for the Tjaliri Aboriginal Group. In 1995, the station housed the Tjaliri Tracking Station, which provided tracking, telemetry, and command capabilities for the EXPRESS re-entry capsule mission, a collaborative program between Germany and Japan.
