In 1993, 12 international artists gathered in Broken Hill's Living Desert Reserve to create monumental sandstone sculptures, transforming Sundown Hill into a renowned outback landmark. Accessible via a 900-meter walking trail or by road, the site offers panoramic desert views. Visitors can also explore the adjacent 180-hectare flora and fauna sanctuary, providing insights into the region's ecology and Aboriginal heritage. Amenities include picnic areas with gas barbecues, shade shelters, and toilets. Entry fees are $10 for adults, $7 for concessions, and free for children under 5. The sculptures are open daily from 6:00 am to approximately half an hour after sunset during summer months, and from 8:30 am to approximately half an hour after sunset during the remaining months.
