Leatherbarrel Creek campground, nestled along the Alpine Way scenic drive between Thredbo and Tom Groggin in Kosciuszko National Park, offers a serene retreat amidst towering forests and the gentle flow of Leatherbarrel Creek. This campground features grassy areas suitable for tent camping, with facilities including non-flush toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings (BYO firewood). It's an ideal spot for birdwatching, with sightings of currawongs, kookaburras, rosellas, and willy wagtails. Access is via a steep descent; during winter months, snow chains are required for 2WD vehicles. Bookings are necessary and can be made online or by contacting the National Parks Contact Centre.
