Langi Ghiran State Park

Langi Ghiran State Park, located 14 km east of Ararat along the Western Highway, offers a serene escape into nature. The park features rugged granite peaks and gentle woodlands, providing picturesque views of the surrounding plains. Visitors can enjoy various walking trails, including the 2.6 km Reservoir Walk, which leads to a historic granite reservoir constructed in 1880. The park also offers camping facilities, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the tranquil environment. Wildlife enthusiasts may encounter Eastern Grey Kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, and a variety of bird species, including the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo. Langi Ghiran, meaning 'Home of the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos' in the Djab Wurrung language, holds cultural significance to the Traditional Owners, the Djab Wurrung people.
