Located at 4 Marine Parade, Lakes Entrance, the Lakes Entrance Regional Historical Society operates the History Centre and Museum, which opened in 2000 in the former Johnsonville school building. Established in 1977 as the Tambo Historical Society, the museum's collection includes manuscripts, books, ephemera, photographs, artworks, and maps. Affiliated with the Heritage Network East Gippsland, Gippsland Association of Affiliated Historical Societies, and the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, the museum is open on Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Saturdays from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, with special arrangements available for groups. Admission is by gold coin donation.
