Nestled in the bushy outer eastern suburb of Lilydale, Lakeland Hillclimb was a renowned motorsport venue active from the early 1960s until the mid-1970s. Operated by the Light Car Club of Australia, it attracted both amateur enthusiasts and racing legends like Harry Firth, Peter Brock, and Tim Schenken. The course featured a tight climb with a fast chicane, a hairpin, and a gradually tightening right turn, culminating in a final hairpin before the finish. Despite its popularity, the venue ceased operations after its owner, Jim Abbott, passed away, leading to its sale and transformation into residential housing. Today, no physical remnants of the circuit remain, though its legacy endures in the memories of motorsport aficionados.
