Wuruma Dam, QLD

Lake Wuruma, situated 48 kilometers north of Eidsvold, Queensland, is a picturesque reservoir formed by the Wuruma Dam on the Nogo River. Completed in 1968, the dam has a capacity of 165,000 megalitres and serves as a vital water source for the region's agriculture. The lake offers a range of recreational activities, including fishing, boating, and camping. Designated camping areas provide 40 clearly marked spaces, each equipped with a picnic table and access to toilet facilities. Visitors can enjoy fishing for species such as Australian Bass, Silver Perch, and Barramundi. Boating is permitted, with a 200-meter exclusion zone around the dam wall for safety. Sheltered picnic areas and wood barbecues are available for public use. Please note that open fires are strictly prohibited, and visitors are encouraged to use non-wood-fired barbecues. Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash. Camping is free of charge, with a maximum stay of three weeks within any four-week period. The area is managed by Sunwater, which provides up-to-date information on water levels and safety alerts.
