Lake Condah, also known as Tae Rak, is a shallow basin approximately 4 km long and 1 km wide, situated about 20 km northeast of Heywood in Victoria's Newer Volcanics Province. The area is renowned for its ancient aquaculture systems, developed by the Gunditjmara people over 6,600 years ago to trap short-finned eels and other fish. These sophisticated stone channels and weirs are part of the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The lake's proximity to the Budj Bim (Mt Eccles) volcano adds to its geological significance.
