Lake Barrington, situated near Wilmot in Tasmania's northwest, is a 20-kilometer-long reservoir renowned for its world-class rowing course, which has hosted events like the 1990 World Rowing Championships. The lake offers a variety of water-based activities, including swimming, rowing, water skiing, power boating, and canoeing. Anglers can enjoy fishing for brown and rainbow trout, as well as native blackfish, with permits required for inland waters. Amenities include camping sites, picnic areas with sheltered tables, BBQs, and toilets. A kiosk operates on weekends during summer and major sporting events. Access points are available at Kentish Park and Lake Barrington Park on opposite shores, approximately 12 kilometers from Sheffield and 4 kilometers from Wilmot, respectively. Please note that water activities are prohibited within the boundaries of the international rowing course at the southern end of the lake.
