Kooroorinya Reserve

Kooroorinya Falls Nature Reserve, located 54 kilometers south of Prairie on the Prairie-Muttaburra Road, offers a serene retreat in Queensland's outback. The reserve features a natural waterhole surrounded by high rock walls and sandy, shaded banks, ideal for swimming, fishing, and birdwatching. During the wet season, the falls cascade into a rocky gorge, creating a spectacular sight. The area also hosts the annual Oakley Amateur Picnic Races each May, a three-day event with horse racing, live music, and local cuisine. Camping facilities include modern toilets, hot showers, and fire pits. Visitors are encouraged to check road conditions before traveling during wet weather and to carry plenty of water.
