Wombeyan Caves, NSW

Kooringa Cave, nestled within Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve, offers a captivating underground experience. This single-chamber cave, first opened to the public in 1875, showcases pristine white columns and contrasting iron-rich draperies. Guided tours, available on Saturdays and during school holidays, last approximately one hour and require a moderate level of fitness due to steep entrances, short ladders, narrow chambers, and 200 steps inside. The cave maintains a constant temperature of 15°C year-round. Visitors are advised to wear sturdy shoes and suitable clothing, as the ground can be slippery. Food is not permitted inside the cave, and there are no toilets near the entrance; facilities are available at the visitor centre.
