Kingscote

Kingscote, established in 1836, is South Australia's oldest European settlement and the largest town on Kangaroo Island. Serving as the island's administrative and commercial hub, it offers a charming coastal atmosphere with a population of around 2,000 residents. Visitors can explore the Kingscote Jetty, a popular spot for fishing and pelican feeding, and the adjacent Penguin Centre, which offers nocturnal penguin tours. The town also boasts the Aurora Ozone Seafront Hotel, a historic landmark with its iconic mermaid statue.
