Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre, Australia's largest salt lake, spans approximately 9,500 square kilometres in the Far North region of South Australia. As the continent's lowest point, it lies about 15 metres below sea level. The lake's surface is often dry and salt-encrusted, but during rare flood events, it transforms into a vibrant wetland teeming with birdlife and aquatic species. Visitors can access the park via four-wheel-drive vehicles from nearby towns like William Creek and Marree, with designated viewing areas and campgrounds available. Recreational access to the lakebed is prohibited to protect its fragile environment.
