Kangaroo Island Council

Kangaroo Island Council, located at 43 Dauncey Street in Kingscote, serves as the local government for Kangaroo Island, Australia's third-largest island. Established in 1996 through the amalgamation of the District Councils of Kingscote and Dudley, the council oversees an area of 4,400 square kilometers with a population of approximately 4,500 residents. It manages 1,100 kilometers of unsealed roads and 250 kilometers of sealed roads, catering to over 200,000 visitors annually. The council's vision is to foster a confident, cohesive community supported to rebuild the island's unique environment, with a strengthening economy led by primary production and tourism. Its mission is to provide leadership and support, delivering key services efficiently and effectively. The council operates Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed on weekends and public holidays.
