Kalamurina Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 2007, spans 679,667 hectares in South Australia's desert heart, protecting vital ecosystems and wildlife. It encompasses pink and white dunefields, ephemeral lakes, floodplains, and gibber plains. The sanctuary is home to threatened species like the Crest-tailed Mulgara, Dusky Hopping Mouse, and Eyrean Grasswren. Visitors can experience unpowered camping from May 1st through September 30th, with facilities including non-potable water, composting toilets, and a communal shade shelter. Access is limited to five vehicles at a time, and bookings are essential. Due to severe flooding, tours and camping are temporarily unavailable until further notice.
