Island Lagoon Tracking Station

Nestled in the arid expanse of South Australia's outback, the Island Lagoon Tracking Station was Australia's first deep space station, established in November 1960 near Woomera. Initially operating from trailers, it expanded to include permanent buildings, supporting missions like NASA's Project Mercury. The station ceased operations in December 1972, and its equipment was transferred to Honeysuckle Creek.
