Illawarra lookout walking track

Embark on a 2km return journey through Barren Grounds Nature Reserve's diverse landscapes, from woodlands to heathlands. The trail culminates at Illawarra Lookout, offering panoramic views of the hinterland, rolling hills, and coastline. Along the path, encounter vibrant wildflowers in spring and observe diverse birdlife, including the threatened ground parrots and eastern bristlebirds. The track is well-marked and mostly flat, with some gradual slopes, making it accessible for all ages. Parking is available at Barren Grounds picnic area, the trail's starting point.
