Tarrawanna, NSW

Established in 1962, the Illawarra Lapidary Club is a vibrant community dedicated to the art of lapidary, encompassing the collection, identification, and crafting of gemstones and minerals into decorative and wearable items. Members engage in activities such as fossicking for raw specimens, studying mineral compositions, and participating in classes covering stone cutting techniques like carving, faceting, and cabochon, as well as silver fabrication, casting, wire wrapping, lampwork bead making, and enamelling. The club hosts regular business and social meetings on the third Wednesday of each month, from January to November, at their clubhouse in Tarrawanna. Upcoming events include the "Open Day – Christmas in July" on July 20, 2025, featuring stalls selling gemstones, fossils, minerals, handcrafted jewellery, and more, alongside homemade morning tea and a sausage sizzle lunch.
